MAP Testing Begins

The Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) testing for students in the Francis Howell School District will take place during the month of April. MAP tests are mandated by the state, and are intended to help determine what a child knows and is able to do according to the expectations for his or her grade level. Scores on the MAP tests are also used to determine how schools are performing according to state and federal guidelines.  READ MORE...

On Friday, March 10, students, staff, families, and community members gathered on the fields of Fairmount Elementary, to celebrate what would soon become known as “the Greatest Fundraising Event Ever!” The Fairmount PTO teamed up with Boosterthon, a company that specializes in fun run events, to create the “Falcon Fun Run” and raise money for technology, new playground equipment, and other expenses for the school.  READ MORE...
Dr. Cheri Oliver Named New Fairmount Principal for 2017-18 School Year

The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) has announced the hiring of Dr. Cheri Oliver as the principal of Fairmount Elementary School, effective July 1, 2017. At Francis Howell School District (FHSD), jumping is serious business, especially when it’s for a great cause! During the month of February, students at Fairmount Elementary participated in Jump Rope for Heart to raise money for the American Heart Association (AHA). With the combined efforts of students, families, and staff, the school not only met their $8,000 goal, they more than doubled it and raised over $16,000 for the AHA. The program was not just about raising money – it also helped students learn about how important exercise is, and what they can do to stay healthy.  READ MORE...

During Francis Howell School District’s (FHSD’s) We Love to Code! Week, administrators, teachers, and learning commons specialists encouraged students of all ages to participate in coding activities. Particularly for younger students, the trick is to find a way to get them to relate to this quickly emerging skill.
